Excellence in Care: Staff Training & Education

Staff training is an integral and ongoing program at the Gardens Residential Care Centers. Our staff is regularly trained by skilled professionals and experienced employees who are familiar with the Neches Family's long tradition of caring and are always alert to new ways of helping our residents.

Our instructors are licensed in Medical Sciences, Gerontology, Psychology, Psychiatry, and Sociology.

To receive certification as an Alzheimer’s Disease Care Specialist staff must complete the following classes:

V. Overview of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias
VI. Effective Communication with the Cognitively Impaired
VII. Managing Difficult Behavior
VIII. Therapeutic Activities
IX. Environmental and Safety Issues
X. Assessing and Reporting
XI. Managing Stress
XII. Knowledge Validation

Ongoing staff training includes review of the curriculum as well as discussions of specific residents and methods to best meet each individual's needs. Staff meetings are interactive and all team members are encouraged to contribute their ideas and suggestions.
